Liverpool “Exploring” Ibrahima Konate Replacements
Liverpool are reportedly exploring replacements for Ibrahima Konate if they cannot agree a deal with the defender by next summer.
Liverpool “exploring” Ibrahima Konate replacements
With news breaking from the Athletic‘s David Ornstein that Real Madrid are “directly and unequivocally” not targeting Konate, Liverpool remain committed to keeping the Frenchman beyond his contract’s expiry in July.
However, they are already “exploring the market for potential replacements,” said Sky Sports News’s Vinny O’Connor.
The reporter explained: “He is expected to explore his options in January, when he is free to speak to foreign clubs.
“Real Madrid have been among the teams interested in signing Konate on a free transfer, but there are reports today that the interest is subsiding.
“Liverpool will only agree terms with Konate if they are in keeping with their wage structure.”
According to theTimesKonate is seeking a two-and-a-half-times increase on his existing salary of £80,000 a week to earn around £200,000 per week on a new contract.
The Reds came agonisingly close to signing Marc Guehi last summer and are expected to ask him to join once his deal is up at Crystal Palace next summer.
However, there are now rumours that Real Madrid are interesting in the England international, leaving Liverpool in a difficult position after agreeing terms with him in August.

from This Is Anfield
Aside from performances on the pitch dampening the mood around Anfield, long queues at the turnstiles due to increased security checks are causing problems for fans and the atmosphere, writesPeter Bolster:
“There is also the atmosphere to think about. John Gibbons put it perfectly when he said, ‘fans p***ed off before they have even got to their seat isn’t the best for the atmosphere’.
“He’s right. Anfield doesn’t switch on at kick-off. It builds from the pubs, the streets, the traders, the walk to the ground.
“If thousands of supporters are still stuck in queues at 2.55pm, soaked and annoyed, the atmosphere inside is flat before a ball has even been kicked.”

In2007Liverpool easily dispatched Porto in the Champions League to the tune of 4-1.
It was a key result on the way to progressing into the knockout stages which, of course, concluded with another appearance in the semi-final against Chelsea – we won’t get into that tie…
Fernando Torres scored his first two European goals for the club as Steven Gerrard converted a penalty and Peter Crouch also headed home to complete the scoring.
It was Liverpool’s 150th game in the European Cup including qualifiers.
