Piers Morgan conducted a new interview with Ronaldo, three years after the exciting dialogue that led to the “Madeira Missile” leaving Manchester United in November 2022, and joining the ranks of Al-Nasr Club.
In the first part of the new interview, which was broadcast recently, Ronaldo touched on many topics, most notably his historic rivalry with Lionel Messi, and the death of his teammate Diogo Jota, in addition to talking about his record-breaking career and his enormous wealth.
During the interview, Morgan asked Ronaldo if he had become a billionaire last year, to which the Portuguese star replied, saying: “That is not true, I became a billionaire many years ago!”
The captain of the Saudi Al-Nassr Club added confidently: “I always knew how much money I had, not completely accurately, but I follow things, and just as my goal was to win the Ballon d’Or, my goal was also to become a billionaire.”
He continued: “I am the only billionaire in football. Numbers do not lie.
Some may see me as arrogant, but the facts prove that. Whenever you search for record numbers, you will find Cristiano’s name at the top.”
When Morgan asked him about the most expensive thing he had bought in his life, the Portuguese star replied with a smile: “A plane,” adding: “I owned a plane for 13 years, but I replaced it last year with a new plane, and it was a little expensive.”
Ronaldo explained that in his youth he enjoyed buying luxury cars and spending money on appearances, but now he no longer cares about that much, except for planes. He justified this by saying: “I am not an ordinary person, and I cannot be at airports for security reasons, so I need a private plane.”
Don’s talk about his wealth coincided with a report published by the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, which included the Portuguese star for the first time on the list of the richest athletes in the world, with his wealth estimated at about $1.4 billion (£1.04 billion).
According to the report, Ronaldo collected than $550 million in salaries during his career with the Saudi Al-Nasr Club, between 2022 and 2023, while the rest of his wealth came from the huge investments and advertising sponsorships he concluded with international companies.
