Dominic Sessa Says Rare Comments Playing Anthony Bourdain (Exclusive)

The Holdoversstar is turning back the clock to play Anthony Bourdain.
Dominic Sessa — who is starring inNow You See Me: Now You Don’t— talked about pivoting from theNow You See Mefranchise to the late chef’s early life inTony.
“It’s a sort of origin story in a way,” the 23-year-old told PEOPLE at the trilogy’s N.Y.C. premiere on Monday, Nov. 10, of the highly-anticipated biopic.
There has been very little information shared about the A24 movie sinceThe Hollywood Reporterbroke the news in August 2024, but Sessa explained that they filmed in Cape Cod, Massachusetts earlier this year.
He continued, “I’m playing Bourdain sort of, you know ‘75, ‘76, that era, when he was working there in the summers.”

Antonio Banderas is also starring inTonythough his exact role has not been clarified. The movie’s release date has not been confirmed.
TheParts Unknownhost would have celebrated his 69th birthday on June 25.He died by suicide on June 8, 2018.
Bourdain’s story has previously been shared in a post-mortem documentary,Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain,which was released in 2021, butTonywill be the first biopic.
Fans will get a new look at the author in never-before-streamed episodes from theAnthony Bourdain: Parts Unknowncompanion series,Prime Cuts.
On Tuesday, Oct. 28, CNN introduced an All Access subscription tier that allows viewers access to behind-the-scenes clips of Bourdain. Originally, the hour-long episodes ofPrime Cutsran ahead of eachParts Unknownseason premiere, featuring a combination of clips from the flagship series with commentary from Bourdain about his travels.
According toThe Hollywood Reporter,after airing, episodes ofPrime Cutsnever ran on CNN again and were not included on CNN+ or CNN Max streaming libraries.
