Liverpool FC Legends will face Borussia Dortmund Legends in the next LFC Foundation charity match at Anfield on Saturday 28 March 2026 (3pm GMT kick-off).
The clubs, connected by the Reds famous anthem You’ll Never Walk Alone, will go head-to-head in what promises to be another special afternoon at Anfield.
The fixture will revive memories of the 2016 Europa League quarter-final, when the Reds produced one of Anfield’s greatest ever comebacks to beat Dortmund 4-3 on the night and 5-4 on aggregate. Ten years on, the legends of both clubs will return to Merseyside to settle old scores.
One hundred percent of the proceeds raised from this season’s fixture – presented by AXA, the club’s Official Training Partner – will support the work of LFC Foundation and Forever Reds.
It will also support the BVB Foundation, which plays a vital role in Dortmund and the Ruhr region, supporting numerous social initiatives and projects.
Money raised from the game will also help fund LFC Foundation’s employability programmes, which support people in the community to find work, gain qualifications and learn new skills through mentoring and training courses. It will also play a key role in delivering the LFC Foundation’s ambitious strategy of helping 500,000 people a season by 2030.
Nine previous Legends matches at Anfield have raised over £9 million of vital funds, benefiting people across the Liverpool City Region and internationally.
During the 2024/25 season, LFC Foundation, the club’s official charity, supported than 145,000 people through health, learning and employability programmes, its highest number to date.
The LFC Legends’s management team and players will be announced in the coming weeks and months ahead of the game, which is brought to you by LFC Foundation in association with Forever Reds, the club’s official former players association.
Matt Parish, LFC Foundation chief executive, said: “Our annual Legends game is always a special occasion, and we’re delighted to be welcoming BVB to Anfield.
“The support from fans year-after-year enables us to reach even people in the Liverpool City Region and abroad, improving health, championing learning and developing employability skills.
“These games not only celebrate the history of our clubs, and our footballing heroes of days past, but they also have a lasting impact – helping us to continue delivering life-changing work and tackling social inequalities across our communities.”
